Petang semalam exam Interpersonal Communication. Soalan 1(b) tanya ini:
"Describe the assumptions proposed by the Expectancy Violation Theory
in interpreting nonverbal communication. Give examples."

The WHAT theory?
Kenapa macam tak pernah dengar teori ni.
Mesti ada lompat-lompat masa baca buku teks. Masa lecture daydream pulak kan.
Soalan enam markah ni.

Setelah beberapa saat menimbang-nimbang keadaan, dia gunakan prinsip save the worst for the last yang
memang selalu terpaksa diguna waktu exam. Tinggalkan yang susah, jawab soalan lain dulu.
Setelah selesai yang lain, masa menjawab tinggal lebih kurang 20 minit lagi.
Akhirnya dia jawab ikut kehendak sendiri.
"Expectancy...Violation...interpreting nonverbal communication..."
Betul kata room-mate dia, bila mereka-reka jawapan sendiri, kita jadi leka menulis...
nampak yakin melampaui hakikat, "seolah-olah kitalah pengasas subjek tu."

Siap bagi contoh lagi.

“Mum - Bill!” said Ron, looking stunned, as he joined the Gryffindor table. “What’re you doing here?”

“Come to watch Harry in the last task!” said Mrs. Weasley brightly. “I must say, it makes a lovely change, not having to cook. How was your exam?”

“Oh… okay,” said Ron. “Couldn’t remember all the goblin rebels’ names, so I invented a few. It’s all right,” he said, helping himself to a Cornish pasty, while Mrs. Weasley looked stern, “they’re all called stuff like Bodrod the Bearded and Urg the Unclean; it wasn’t hard.”

(J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Chapter 31: The Third Task)

Sebenarnya banyak bahaya menembak jawapan. Case in point:

Letak Ubaid period circa 3500 BC. Memang layak dapat tanda soal.

Selamat menjalani peperiksaan kepada semua yang berkenaan.
Semoga berjaya mendapatkan apa yang dicari.
